July Intentions & Life Update

july intentions

Hi loves,

Let’s set the scene – I’m currently drinking my collagen hot cocoa and watching the Bachelorette. I have all of my candles lit and my body is covered in lavender essential oils. Self care is definitely in order for tonight! This is what I call, my “me” time. LOL

Speaking of “me” time, I love taking time at the end of each month to do some reflecting. I look at my planner, flip through the pages of everything I had planned that month and reflect on my accomplishments and the things I need to work on. I look at the workouts I did & scratched out (because something came up), the trips and memories I made with friends, and I measure my intentions/goals for the month.

This little ritual is SO therapeutic for me. I always end it feeling so proud of myself… no matter if I was struggling a little bit more this month than others, I got through it with a lot of lessons learned.

I use the things I need to work on from the last month to create my intentions for the next month.

So here are my intentions for the month of July:

1. Eat what my body needs and feels best on: Whole foods.

In June, I took balance and my paleo lifestyle to a whole other level. I experimented with processed foods that I don’t normally eat because of my tummy probs and I definitely paid the price. In Mexico, I splurged on a lot of tortilla chips, tacos, pizza and starchy carbs. Let’s just say I’m still bloated and in so much pain. LOL. I have really low energy and absolutely no motivation to work out. In July, I want to really focus on what my body needs. As fun as it was to eat what ever I pleased, I just know my stomach and it does not do well with processed foods. Whole foods/ clean eating lifestyle here I come!

2. Pray for my relationships:

I want to send more positive vibes to my relationships and to their relationships. Many people say it’s very common for people my age (early 20’s) to only think of themselves. We are just fresh out of college, worrying about our own careers, lifestyles and growth. I want to make a big effort to make sure that I don’t get caught up in my own life. We are all so fortunate to have relationships and a little attention and effort goes a long way. So I want to take time to pray more for them and thank them.

3. Listen to my body (No more B*ll Sh*t)

I know, I know. I preach this all of the time, but it’s so important for me, especially for this month. Here is why: I made the decision to get off birth control starting July. It’s been something I’ve been thinking about for a while and I know it’s something I need to do. After talking about it with my girlfriends and listening to a few podcasts about birth control, I know it’s what my body needs. It needs a break. Of course, I’m still going to keep it safe! I’m also seeing a Gastronologist on July 10th to finally get some sort of real diagnoses on my gut. (IBS-C is NOT a diagnoses). I want my gut issues to be healed for once and for all. I found this Gastronologist on a podcast doing an interview on all things gut health and fell in love with her knowledge. She just so happened to work in La Jolla…it’s just meant to be. I have done a lot of research on her, so I have a really good feeling about this appointment. I will of course, keep you all updated!

4. Your skin is your biggest organ

Lately, I have been super conscious about what I put on my skin. I’ve been trying to learn more about skin care as your skin directly connects to your blood stream, and then ultimately processed by your liver. I’ve been more aware of the toxins and chemicals in the products I use. However, I haven’t transitioned fully. I first started with my face products such as face wash, serums, face spray etc. It’s been kind of fun to experiment with organic and non-toxic products. They smell amazing and I just feel better about myself. Next is all natural deodorant…does anyone have any recommendations?

5. Keep your waste in mind

Let’s talk trash. We all have so much trash. Like where the hell does it all go? I want to be more mindful of the amount of trash I throw away. I just bought reusable straws that are not only so chic, but also amazing for the environment. My next step is a reusable water bottle. I know, I’m so behind the trend. But, it’s time. Plastic is FULL of chemicals and horrible for the environment. Another thing to think about, is ziplock baggies. Instead, I’ll be more mindful and use reusable Tupperware. If I could just do small changes and encourage others to do the same thing, it can make a BIG difference.
