TIPS TO STOP BITING YOUR NAILS
WHY DO WE BITE OUR NAILS?
Nail biting can be a sign of anxiety, stress or boredom. We usually do the repetitive behavior to cope with challenging emotions or needing to keep our hands busy.
METAL NAIL FILER
1
Always keep a metal nail filer on hand. We are more likely to want to "fix" our nails with our teeth when we feel a snag or unevenness. Having a nail filer to do this in replacement of your teeth helps keep your hand out of your mouth and smooth your nails our evenly.
MANICURE
2
Give yourself a manicure at least once a week. This helps keep your hands out of your mouth. Why? Because you subconsciously don't want to ruin your freshly painted nails you either worked hard on yourself or paid someone $10+ for.
BE AWARE
3
Because this is a habit, it's so important to be aware of breaking the habit. When you feel the urge to put your hand in your mouth. Stop and think why? Is something making you nervous? Get to the root of the behavior and breathe it out.
BE PATIENT
4
A habit takes time to break. If you accidentally broke the habit by chewing one nail, don't sabotage yourself by biting the rest of your nails, too. Relax... use your filer to even it our and move on.
