Low Glycemic Acai Bowl Recipe

Guess what?

I used to make açaí bowls for a living. LOL – In other words, you can call me an açaí pro 😉

In high school I worked at this açaí hot spot – Sambazon Cafe. It was the best job ever. I made açaí, ate açaí and breathed açaí. I was completely obsessed.

My summer going into my junior year of college, I landed a job at my all time favorite smoothie and açaí bowl shop, Beaming Superfoods Cafe. Have you been?

At Beaming, I learned how to make a healthier version of the açaí bowl. By healthy, I mean lower sugar and it still tastes FIRE.

The secret to the best açaí is including lots of healthy fats and only using frozen fruits. This makes the açaí thick and creamy. It’s ALL about the texture.

I made these bowls for Trevor and I while we were celebrating my birthday in Joshua Tree. There’s nothing better than açaí in the desert.

We topped ours with Living Intentions activated Superfood Cereal, fresh strawberries from the local farmer’s market, honey and Justin’s vanilla almond butter. It was my birthday, so we wanted to splurge a little in the nut butter department 🙂

Alright, lets get to it!
