Yes… I’m a Girl + I shave my face!

Yep… that’s right. I shave my face.

AND no, it doesn’t grow back darker.

At first, I was hesitant. But once my friend who is also an Esthetician told me all of the benefits, I was sold.

And every time I shave my face, I get sooo many compliments on how amazing my skin looks and when I wear makeup on top of my perfectly shaven + smooth face, the complements only escalade.

So lets back up here…

I have a lot of peach fuzz on my face which has never bothered me before. However, I noticed that I kept breaking out… which did bother me.

I was doing all of the things, too – the 7 step routine morning and night, using the break out cream, exfoliators and facial creams. Literally nothing worked. The break outs always won.

I mean everyone is different so this might not work for you, but it totally works for me.

Shaving my face has prevented the oils and dirt from getting stuck in the all of my peach fuzz follicles. It actually exfoliates my skin. It removes all the dead skin and dirt which is amazing for anti-aging and people who break out … aka me!

I like to shave my face once a month – it’s like a deep cleanse for your face.

It also helps products absorb into your skin better!

You don’t even realize how much the hairs on your face affects your makeup application until they are gone. Your makeup goes on way smoother and it gives you a beautiful glowy look. Totally recommend shaving your face a few days before a photoshoot or big event!

Warning – obviously don’t shave if you are in the middle of a break out. Also, make sure you clean your razors thoroughly after each use. We don’t want to spread any bacteria!

Q+A:

What kind of razor should I use?

You need a single -edge, single-blade razor. I love the razors from the brand Ardell. You can snag yours here.

How should I shave my face?

There is a technique to shaving your face. It’s important to pull your skin tight with one hand and then shaving downward on your skin in SHORT strokes. Don’t drag the razor down your ENTIRE face. It’s not like shaving your legs, ladies! If you shave upward, you will most likely get ingrown hairs, which is never fun or cute.

How to prep my face before I shave?

Make sure you clean your face with water and a cleanser before you shave your face. Also your face should be completely dry before shaving!

What do I use post shave?

I love to use the Trilogy rose hip oil post shaving! Shaving means taking a layer of dead skin off so we need to make sure we are hydrating it with yummy oils afterwards.

How often?

I have sensitive skin so I like to shave my face once a month!
