Gut healthy chocolate strawberry smoothie

Happy Valentine’s Day! My treat to you is this delicious gut healthy chocolate strawberry smoothie! I’ve told you on my Instagram that I have some MAJOR tummy issues. I thought I was so alone in this department until I started to do some research on Instagram… out of all places LOL. I got more out of learning from what others do than through the help of any Doctor. My Doctor told me I would have to be on Laxatives all my life. Being in pain all of the time, I knew this could not help the root of my problem. The quote “Food be thy medicine” is so TRUE. When I’m on my gut loving food plan, I feel amazing! However, I’m human… I sometimes venture off from it because I finally feel good and think that I can be a normal person and eat all the healthy foods. HA! My tummy quickly reminds me that I’m not and begins to flare & I start all over again! Ugh.

So February is all about loving yourself. Loving yourself means listening to your body. Here’s to me listening to my body and fueling it with all of the gut loving foods.

Fage Yogurt: This is the only dairy that helps heal my gut. WHY?? It’s a high quality cultured yogurt full of probiotics. I eat one of these babies a day!

Steamed Cauliflower: Steam or roast your veggies before consuming them! This HUGE and probably the hardest for me to do since I’m a salad loving freak! When you cook your veggies, its so much easier for your digestion system to break down. I have a slow digestion system, so I feel it real fast when I eat raw veggies versus cooked.

Cacao: Helps reduce inflammation.

Manuka Honey: This magical baby helps repair colon damage and inflammation. It balances your digestive system to heal your stomach and intestinal imbalances.

Green bananas: Consists of a probiotic bacteria!

L-Glutamine: My holy grail! I take this stuff twice a day. L-Glutamine builds & repairs the digestive tract. It helps heal ulcers, leaky gut and balances the mucus production… AKA it improves IBS & diarrhea.
