Why I’m Not Going Back to the Gym after Covid-19

I don’t want to say I will never go back to a gym ever again… because things change. But, right now I can say with full confidence that I’m not going back to the gym after Covid-19.

Here’s why.

The biggest thing quarantine and Covid-19 have taught me is that I absolutely LOVE at-home workouts.

I mentioned this here, that I originally thought the only way for me, personally, to see results, is to either lift really heavy weights or high intensity training. My original way of thinking is funny, because I was actually never happy with my results from doing those workouts.

Now, I do Melissa Wood Health 3-4 times a week (4-5 if my body is wanting more) which are low-impact/ low-resistance workouts. I call it the “lazy girl work out” that actually works. I do Melissa Wood Health and daily walks. This combo has done wonders for my body.

Not only am I excited to workout for like the first time ever… I feel sooo good when I’m doing these workouts. I’m using mostly my own body weight (sometimes a 2 pound weight) and in return, it has made me feel way more in tune with my body.

It’s hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that I truly only need my own body weight to have an efficient and good workout.

But it’s working so I need to let go of my old way of thinking and accept this beautiful change. It just feels too good to be true.

As you may know, by now, my body is super sensitive to stress. Stress causes me constipation, inflammation and weight gain etc.

Ever since we transitioned to working from home, my stress has gone down tremendously. I also think the convenience of working out from home has brought down my stress a lot as well.

I no longer have to sit in traffic after work for an hour, to then try to workout at the gym for an hour… after being exhausted from my 8-5 and traffic. Like, I doubt those workouts were even effective, but I would feel so guilty if I didn’t go. It was on-going stress happening in my brain everyday to try to fit everything in. Not to mention, I would come home at 8pm and have no energy to make dinner and then do it all over again the next day… 5 days a week.

Now, I work from home. During my lunch, I go on a walk outside or workout with Melissa Wood Health in my living room. After work, I do the same thing… if I did a workout during lunch, I’ll walk after work and vise versa.

Working out (from home) has become exactly what it’s supposed to be, a stress-release and my “me time.”

It leaves me craving more.

And that’s why I won’t be going back to gym after Covid-19.

I feel the exact same way! During Covid I had to find a new ‘normal’ working out from home. I found an app/program that works for me, and I too won’t be going back to the gym. I love the convenience of working out from home, but also the ability to work at my own pace.
